Bangalore has plenty of ways to get a speaker for an evening. They differ less on the speaker itself and more on what comes with it: delivery, setup, a mic, someone to call if something goes wrong. Here are the main options.
1. Local AV rental services
Neighbourhood rental services stock a range of speakers and deliver within the city. You choose the speaker, they bring it, set it up and collect it afterwards. You run the music yourself.
Good for: house parties, birthdays, apartment events, office meetings and small functions. Watch for: delivery radius and charges, whether a mic is included, and the battery situation.
This is what we do at Namma Visuals. Our speakers run from an 80W model for small gatherings to a 2000W PA speaker for about 250 guests. Delivery is free within 10 km of S.G. Palya, and setup and pickup are included.
2. Event, DJ and sound companies
These companies supply speakers plus an operator, a DJ, a mixer and often lighting. For comparison, one Bangalore supplier on IndiaMART advertises a DJ-style speaker combo at ₹6,000 per day.
Good for: weddings and large events where you want someone else to run the sound. Watch for: paying for an operator and extra gear you don't need at a house party.
3. Online marketplaces and directories
Directories like IndiaMART list many rental suppliers with indicative prices. They're useful for comparing options quickly, but listings vary widely in detail.
Good for: comparing several suppliers at once, or finding specialist equipment. Watch for: vague listings. Ask for the exact model, what's included, delivery and pickup charges, and whether someone sets it up.
4. Borrowing
A friend's portable Bluetooth speaker is free. For a small dinner, it may be enough.
Good for: background music for a handful of people. Watch for: personal portable speakers are usually built for a room, not a crowd, and rarely have a mic input. If speeches or a larger guest list are involved, you will probably need something bigger.
How to decide
Ask yourself three questions:
- Will anyone use a mic? If yes, rule out most personal speakers and confirm the mic is included.
- Do you want to run the music yourself? If yes, a local rental is usually enough. If you want an operator or DJ, go to an event company.
- How many guests, and indoors or out? Match the speaker to the crowd; our guide on choosing a speaker has a sizing list.
Whichever option you choose, ask for the total price, including delivery, pickup and any deposit, before you confirm.
